FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the Stowers PTA?
The PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a group of parents and teachers who work together to enrich the students' educational experience. The PTA sponsors educational events, purchases computer programs, makes improvements to the classrooms and campus, and hosts family events through annual fundraising efforts. The PTA also promotes communication between teachers, administrators and parents.
How do I join the PTA?
To become a member of the PTA, simply visit our MemberHub Online Store to conveniently purchase your membership.
Anyone may join the PTA. We encourage everyone in the family and community to join the Stowers PTA -- moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, teachers, staff, local businesses, and neighbors!
Why is there a membership fee?
The PTA membership is $12.00 for an individual membership and $20 for a family membership. A portion of the dues is paid to the State and National PTA to allow the Stowers Elementary PTA and its members access to resources, information, grants, and training programs. The remainder of the membership fee stays at Stowers Elementary to assist with programs, events, supplies, and campus improvements.
I joined the PTA last year. Is my membership still active?
Memberships are active for one year, from the start of the school year until the start of the following school year.
If I join the PTA, am I required to volunteer or attend meetings?
No. Volunteering or attending meetings is not a requirement for joining the PTA. By joining, you are investing in your student's experiences at the school level. You will also receive email communications from the PTA about upcoming school events and important information.
I joined the PTA at my older child's school. Does that membership carry over to Stowers?
Your membership is exclusive at each school, as the monies are allocated for specific projects at each school. We encourage you to join the PTA at both schools.
How do I keep up with information from PTA, including volunteer opportunities?
You may receive information from the PTA via your student's teacher, the homeroom parent assigned to your class, the PTA Facebook page, PTA membership email communications, and this website.
Does my membership provide any additional special perks?
